It’s getting closer to payday. Today is January 6 which is practically mid-month (sort of!). Ok, so we’ve still got a while to go until payday but it’s definitely getting closer.

 

The winter has been mild. So far, we’ve not had to endure weeks of snow, frozen roads, delayed travel plans and general horribleness. That’s certainly something to be happy about… unless you like arctic weather conditions. I don’t: ice is for drinks.

 

We’re still triple A-rated. As Western countries’ economies fall like dominoes, we should be glad that we’re still holding onto our triple A rating. Some of the less gloomy economists predict things will get better this year – and at least we’re faring better than many other countries. Mantra: It could be worse.

 

New Year, new start. Nothing rejuvenates a desire to increase fitness / happiness / wealth / veg consumption more than the start of a new year. As they say, only you can change your life. So set yourself a target and get going, but remember to give yourself a break if you slip up from time to time.

 

It’s 2012. That means the greatest show on earth is coming to London. No, not the end of the world according to the Mayans… the pride boosting, community-uniting Olympics, of course. Although, a friend of mine received a calendar for Christmas that’s missing November and December. Do calendar makers know something we don’t? Hmmm...

 

It’s Friday. For most people in this country, Friday afternoon means being just a few short hours away from seeing family or friends or pets or spending an enjoyable evening alone, but free. That’s most definitely a reason to be cheerful.
